8 MILES
Investing in Africa
IDENTITY
8 Miles are a private equity company that invest solely in African businesses. The name 8 Miles reflects the shortest distance between Europe and Africa (The Gibraltar Strait) emphasising that what was once viewed as an inaccessible area for investors is now more obtainable than ever. The identity uses the distinct shape of the African continent within the negative space of the 8, placing Africa at the heart of 8 Miles’ business. To emphasise the vibrancy and diversity of the continent, a striking secondary supergraphic was created from the 8 Miles letterforms, a brave departure from the conservative graphics traditionally used by private equity businesses.
WEBSITE
An interactive map was created to pin-point the businesses that 8 Miles have invested in, with key facts and figures used to illustrate progress to potential investors. An extensive photoshoot was
art-directed to document the invested businesses and foundation projects. These images were used to bring the 8 Miles website and other printed collateral to life. Photography by Johnny Millar.
